Malaria remains a leading cause of illness and death in Kenya, particularly in endemic regions like Lake Victoria and the coastal areas. However, recent efforts—such as the distribution of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), indoor residual spraying (IRS), and improved access to rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs)—have significantly reduced malaria cases. Despite progress, challenges persist, including drug resistance and climate change expanding mosquito habitats. The Kenyan government, in partnership with organizations like the WHO and AMREF, continues to promote community awareness and preventive measures to eliminate malaria by 2030.
